Fabric masks are not as effective as surgical masks — in the same way that surgical masks are not as effective as the N95 (mask) — but as supplies of surgical and N95 masks are almost non-existent to the public IN NORTH AMERICA, cloth masks may be our only option to cover up.

In a time of crisis, Watuko masks may provide a physical barrier against you transferring germs from your hand to your face. Most of us touch our faces several times every hour, mindlessly, and this is often how we catch viral illnesses. Despite never being especially close to anyone sick, we self-infect by rubbing our nose or eyes after touching a mucus-misted surface. The physical barrier of an elective face mask could help protect us from ourselves, by minimizing inadvertent face touching.
Essentially, no masks are perfect, and their value always depends on the context in which they’re used and cared for.

Our recommendations are a guide only.  Even with the use of a mask, best practices are to maintain the 2-meter rule, wash your hands on a regular basis with soap and water and to Isolate or avoid ALL public places. In general, masks may or may not help to control viruses but we can make every effort to protect ourselves. In China, Italy and other countries around the world today masks are worn by everyone, every day, everywhere.

How to fit, use and care for a non-disposable DOUBLE layer face mask:

  • 1. WASH BEFORE WEAR: Before putting on a Watuko face mask to adjust the fit, ensure it has been washed and dried. Some shrinkage will occur.

  •  2. WITH CLEAN HANDS ADJUST THE BANDS FOR A SNUG BUT COMFORTABLE FIT. (Bands are adjusted by toggles). "NEW DESIGN"

  • Cover mouth and nose with mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask. If the fit is too tight or too loose repeat the fit-step again.

  • Avoid touching the mask at all times while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

  • To remove the mask: remove it from behind your ears (do not touch the front of mask);

  • Wash mask by immersing immediately in the sink and hand wash with soap and warm-hot water. (Do not use bleach or alcohol) Rinse well and put in dryer or hang to dry in a warm sunny location.

  • Keep your CLEAN-DRY mask stored in a CLEAN sterile bag. Each set of 2 masks is sent to you in a sterile re-usable pouch, use this pouch to store clean, dry masks.  Never store exposed in a pocket of clothing.

  • Masks MUST ALWAYS be laundered between uses.

  • Any insert should be disposable between uses.
