In January 2020 I finally decided enough was enough and I wasn't going to keep buying new running shoes every time the hole fairy kept putting an unwanted toe hole in them - it was time to fight back.
After mourning the loss of my then favourite pair of running shoes I decided that there must be something available to stop this happening. After much deliberation I concluded that wearing steel toe cap boots everywhere was out of the question, so I started the search for a solution. I also looked for answers in the most logical place - I asked Google. At which point I was comforted to know that I wasn't alone in my struggle with big toe holes. "Why do I get big toe holes in my trainers" seemed to be a regularly asked question.
Unfortunately, after much searching for an off-the-shelf solution I was resigned to the fact that there just wasn't anything available. It was then in true inventor style that I resolved to create my own, and the rest, as they say, is history.
